NaviStitch and Sail Loft News

Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, the NaviStitch shop, and on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...

In the Sail Loft...

This week we're hosting another collective show in our Sail Loft Gallery. From now until Saturday we've got members of the Dovercourt Art Club exhibiting their creative array of diifferent work. There are pieces from: Linda Grant, Pat Cory, Suzy Tadayonpor-Wyall, Frances Vincent, Anna Baldwin, Terry Field, Karan Wilson, Richard Coggan and Rodney Byrd.

We had a great 'meet the artist' evening yesterday - it was lovely for some of you to come along and chat with the creators of this great collection.

Up next...

Here's a massively talented father and son - and we're delighted to be hosting their exhibition in our Sail Loft Gallery, next Tuesday for 2 weeks!

NaviStitch friend and photographer TazzyBro Photography is sharing our gallery space with his dad, MATTRéSS, and we'd love you to come and enjoy their work.

We've also got Tazzy's 2025 calendars in the NaviStitch shop - they'd make a beautiful Christmas gift if you're starting your festive shopping!

And then...

From the 10th November, we're using a few days to prepare for our incredibly exciting Christmas Pop-up Shop that's open from 16th November for 7 days a week, and features around 30 incredible artists and makers from around the region; some you'll have met in our Sail Loft Gallery previously, others are newcomers and they bring exciting work that we know will fit even the most awkward of stockings!

We're having a preview evening on Friday 15th November from 4pm-8pm - you're all welcome, plus you'll have the chance to meet some of our fabulously creative makers that evening too!

In the NaviStitch shop

🎁 Don't forget that Thursday (31st), is the deadline for ordering your bespoke wrapping paper. Take a look at the four different designs that I've created and let us know how you'd like yours personalised. There's a minimum order of 10 sheets per design/customisation: £2 per sheet - no tags needed!

We've placed one print order for this year's winning Manningtree Christmas Card Competition winners already and received our first batch ... don't they look great? If you're quick, each of our 5 card designs are now ready for you to buy from our shop.

If you're not able to make it into the NaviStitch shop just yet, we'll be placing a second print run and so pre-ordering is still possible - here's how.

A pack of 6, 15cm square Christmas cards with envelopes is £8 and 50% of the sales price will be donated to the Manningtree Stour Valley Rotary Club to support local charities.

Another date for the diary...

Manningtree Christmas Market is on Saturday 7th December from 2pm to 7pm and we, like all of the High Street shops, will be open and enjoying this incredibly festive event.

If you've not been before, it's certainly an event you'll not want to miss - it's a great way to kick-start your festivities and there's always plenty of things going on for the whole family to enjoy!

And finally...

If you're an artist or maker, we've now got our calendar open for 2025 bookings. Take a look at details of how to book

Think creatively too - our space is not just for individual exhibitions, consider collaborations - If you're a fledgling artist or maker and want to enter the world of exhibiting, let us know and we can help you with introductions, with display materials and with advice.

Until next time...

If you're making memories and would like to celebrate them, or you know someone who's celebrating and would like to mark the occasion, or add something fabulously memorable to someone's Christmas list, think about commissioning a piece of nautical stitched art.

Several small images of many types of picture frames with the text 'bespoke framing'

Take a look at how easy it is to order your own unique piece created from maritime charts, both new and old - many of them fairly local. Always ask if you're looking for somewhere special - I've a huge collection.

Now that we can also take orders for bespoke framing in-store, the whole thing's as easy

Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing

Sam
