Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, above the NaviStitch shop on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...
Today...
Is a significant birthday for me and I'm having a fantastic day! Having been spoilt rotten over the last few days, I have to say that I'm thorough enjoying my day in the NaviStitch shop today - thanks to all of you that have visited and helped me to have a great day.
This week...
We're in the second week of our Maritime pop-up Market in the Sail Loft - why not come and pay a visit this week or next for coastal-themed giftware for someone special (including yourself!)? All of our nautical-themed delights are here until 17th September
Next week...
It's the last week of our Maritime Market pop-up, but we've also got the first of two workshops on Friday 17th with photographer Mike Klencher: Gel Printing and Alternative Mixed Media. Running from 10:30am-1:30pm, the class is just £5 per person and can be booked here
Mike's second workshop, Making Photo Zines is on 8th October from 10:30am to 1:30pm, again at just £5 per person. In this workshop you'll create a variety of zines using different techniques and learn all about zine culture which dates back to fan zines of the 1940s. Book your place here.
Coming up...
We're getting busy, busy, busy in the Sail Loft with, potentially, every week up until (warning - just about to use the 'C' word), Christmas filled with exciting exhibitions, workshops and pop-up events. Don't miss these, or any of our exhibitions and events - keep an eye on our calender, but for now, here's a round-up:
September
We've got a collaborative exhibition from maritime-influenced artist Anne Plummer and textile artist Vic of Maekandoo from 21st to 24th September.
We're then waiting to confirm our next 2-week exhibition with a talented local landscape artist - watch this space!
October
From 12th to 15th October, we've got something completely different - an incredibly exciting exhibition from local Manningtree artist, MATTRéSS
From 26th to 29th we've got another collaborative exhibition - this time from Poppy Curtis - a young talent to watch (this is her first exhibition) - and Sue Bedford, aka Dotty Bee - a small, independent brand creating watercolours and paintings.
November
A fun-packed month, full with three major events:
2nd -12th November we're bringing you an exhibition from photographer Tazzy Bro: 'It's on Your Doorstep'. The work featured will be of Manningtree and the local area so we're looking forward to this one.
Local artist David Downs then brings an exhibition to our Sail Loft from 16th-19th November. He describes himself as "... a brilliant landscape painter who amplifies the sense of place and time through the lens of autism." We love his work and are delighted that he's back with us this year.
And then...
From 23rd November we'll be holding our Christmas Pop-up Shop and will be open every day from then until Christmas Eve!
We're thrilled to be opening applications from Monday 12th for artists and makers that would like to join us for our Christmas pop-up shop in the Sail Loft.
We're overwhelmed that we've had lots of enquiries already from some amazingly talented people and we'll be hosting around 30 of them to bring you the best festive shopping experience around - find out more about the event or how to apply to be part of it here
More next time...
... But never miss out on any of the events held in our Sail Loft - take a look at our online calendar to both see what's happening, and to book any of our workshops.
If you're an artist or maker and are interested in hiring the Sail Loft for your exhibition, workshop or pop-up even, take a look at details of our space and how to book. We have made a few changes to make it even easier to exhibit with us, please do get in touch if you would like to know more.
Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing
Sam
