Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, the NaviStitch shop, and on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...
In the Sail Loft...
We're sad that this is the last week of two great exhibitions in our Sail Loft Gallery featuring amazing woodturning artist Chris Harvey, and the incredible photography of Christian Davies Photography. If you do get a chance to call in before Saturday, we can assure you, you will not be disappointed.
Up next...
We're delighted to open our doors on Tuesday to welcome two fabulous artists to our Sail Loft Gallery space: Claire Day, and Duffy Tomei, both bring their unique styles and talents. They'll be with us for 2 weeks, until August 31st.
As always, we'd love to see you and we're excited for you to see this exhibition.
And then...
Looking ahead to our next Sail Loft exhibition, from 3rd-14th September we'll be welcoming an Art Mix Group exhibition featuring artists: Norah Stocker, Elizabeth Pottinger, Rose Langford Susan Fraser and Dorothea King. The exhibition includes a range of media from paintings, drawings and stained glass from this group of artists living and working in Coggeshall.
And something different...
Although we absolutely love welcoming artists and makers into our Sail Loft Gallery, there are times when we use the space to benefit others. During our Art Around the Walls art trail event, we hosted a silent auction with work from each of the participating artists. We're delighted to announce that the event raised £1450 for Acorn Village charity.
Keep your eyes peeled for our next charity event - we're launching our 'Design a Christmas Card for Manningtree' competition soon ... watch out for details from the end of this month!
In The NaviStitch Shop
We've got so many card ranges in the NaviStitch shop, as well as my own ranges. Cards from Glitter and Earth have been really popular and we've just had another delivery with a few new designs to add to the selection.
If you've got an occasion coming up, any occasion, you'll find something here!
A date for your diary...
A longstanding outdoor art fair along Felixstowe's promenade, Art on the Prom is back again this year, with work from artists all across East Anglia.
In previous years 20,000 people have attended making Art on the Prom a great opportunity for me to once again promote my own work, and introduce people to the NaviStitch shop and Sail Loft Gallery. I had a record-breaking year last year - here's to 1st September - get it in your diaries!
And finally...
I wanted to show you a commission that I worked on last year - my customer just sent pics of it in situ. It's so great to see where my work ends up - in this instance it's sitting beside wallpaper called 'Dungeness' from Mini Moderns... how cool is that?!
The commission piece is a compass rose on a vintage chart of Orford in an SS Pegu frame.
If you're making memories and would like to celebrate them, or you know someone who's celebrating and would like to mark the occasion, think about commissioning a piece of nautical stitched art.
Take a look at how easy it is to order your own unique piece created from maritime charts, both new and old - many of them fairly local. Always ask if you're looking for somewhere special - I've a huge collection.
Now that we can also take orders for bespoke framing in-store, the whole thing's as easy
Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing
Sam
