What's on and coming up...

Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, above the NaviStitch shop on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...

This week...

We've enjoyed having mixed media artist Madeleine Tapp with us - her exhibition and workshops have been amazing. If you can, try and catch her before her last day this Saturday.

Madeleine's work is beautiful and emphasis colour and texture, atmosphere and character.

Next week...

We're welcoming Wivenhoe artists Emma Connolly, artist, Laura Fletcher, Textiles, Georgina Lorton, Ceramics and Fleurs Du Coeur, Lino to the Sail Loft from Wednesday next week - it's a joint exhibition and came about as the result of them winning a competition for a free week's space earlier in the year. A great mix of disciplines and they're with us from Wednesday through to Sunday (I know - not usually an opening day for us) - which leads us on to...

Manningtree Earth Festival

Here's a great new event organised by the local community to raise awareness of all things green and environmental. I'll be opening the NaviStitch shop from 12 noon until 5pm, and there will be lots of other stalls, music, entertainment, food and drinks and lots of other things besides. Why not come and see how progressive our little town is - the event's on from 12noon to 8pm - details can be found here: https://bit.ly/3tkO0xr

In the NaviStitch shop, Wivenhoe Artists are extending their exhibition for an extra day and, excitingly, we're going to create a community collage: Anyone coming in to the NaviStitch shop will be invited to contribute and add to the creation of the collage. We'll have a selection of scrap, reclaimed and found materials along with some glue and scissors for visitors to cut, stick and add their input to the collage. The finished piece will be on display in the shop afterwards - we can't wait to see the result!

Summer Vibes

Another thing that we're really looking forward to is

our Summer Vibes exhibition - now that the selection part is now complete, we're looking forward to receiving the work from all of the wonderful artists - it's going to be fantastic having such an incredible amount of talent in our creative space.

With a preview on Friday 1st July from 5pm-8pm, the exhibition will be on all throughout the month of July - there's no excuse for anyone to miss this array!

In other news

We've had a bit of a facelift (well, the NaviStitch shop has!). A fresh lick of paint and we're ready for the Summer. It feels great to be clean and tidy - our creative little town deserves that we all look our best.

More next time...

... But never miss out on any of the events held in our Sail Loft - take a look at our online calendar to both see what's happening, and to book any of our workshops.

If you're an artist or maker and are interested in hiring the Sail Loft for your exhibition, workshop or pop-up even, take a look at details of our space and how to book

Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing

Sam
