Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, above the NaviStitch shop on Manningtree High Street over the coming weeks...
In the Sail Loft...
This week we're having a greeting card sale as we're beginning to produce our own NaviStitch-brand cards in a more economical and sustainable way - and moving away from cellophane wrapping (our new ranges, the Ducking Good Collection and the Hoop Group cards are produced that way). To celebrate this, and to free up some space, we're reducing the price of our existing A6 greeting cards with some seriously special deals: Singles are £2 each instead of £2.50. Buy 4 cards or more for £1.50 each. Buy 10 cards or more for £1 each. This is in the shop only, not online I'm afraid. It's a great time to stock up! Did you know, for 50p extra per card, you can also choose to have envelopes created from nautical charts?
And then...
We're excited to have an exhibition from Coco & Stitch in the Sail Loft from 4th-7th October. You may have seen her work in our Spring exhibition, but we're excited to have this incredible hand-sewn embroidery and quilt art on display for a week upstairs. Mel's bringing some abstract hangings and landscape pieces and, having recently been looking into the Japanese art of Sashiko - using up fabric from various places - she's hoping t have some visible mending kits and children's embroidery kits available during her exhibition. If you get a chance to come in and see this beautiful work, it'd also be an idea to think about a Christmas commission! Mel's Daughter Tara will also have some of her digital art prints for sale too.
Excitingly up next...
Take a look at our Design a Christmas Card for Manningtree Competition, and get painting, drawing, sketching - whatever age you are, or ability and experience you have. Enthusiasm is all you need! Win a £50 Winyl Shop voucher (adults) or a Lucca voucher (16s and under), and 12 copies of your card design printed with your credit on the back!
Sales from winning cards will be distributed by Manningtree Rotary Club to We Care Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and other local charities. Here's all the information that you need, or you're welcome to pick up info from us. Closing date is Saturday 7th October!
All entries received will be on display in the NaviStitch Sail Loft from 11th to 14th October - entries will be anonymous and visitors will be invited to vote for their favourites. The public vote will be combined with the judges' vote to determine the winning entries - good luck to you all!
And finally for October...
In their own words "after many years of working together in similar textile approaches 'The Two' have come together in a shared exhibition". Amanda Clement-Robinson and Sue Bedford, aka Dotty B, will be collaborating and showcasing their work, based on where they both live from 18th to 28th October.
In other news...
We've got some fabulous new work in our NaviStitch shop at the moment - Jayson Fletcher's sea creatures made from found wood and old boat parts are just incredible works of art and we have quirky seagulls from Mae Kandoo - if you're looking for that unique gift for someone, look no further...
And finally...
I hope you don't mind me sharing this with you but on Sunday Mr NaviStitch and I are taking part in the Acorn Village Witch Finder Trail. We are doing the 5K walk and the weather looks perfect for it. We would love your support by either following the link or
scanning the QR code. Thank you.
Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing
Sam
