Here's what's happening in our creative space, the Sail Loft, above the NaviStitch shop in Manningtree High Street over the next few weeks:
This Saturday...
We're joined by Maekandoo who's hosting a Jubilee Bunting Workshop with a unique twist:
Your heirloom bunting will be made from reclaimed and vintage fabrics, lace and cord, reclaimed ribbon and braid.
You'll add flags and other details and it'll be a keepsake to last - something to pass down from one generation to the next.
There's a unique way of turning your bunting into a little piece of local history too. It's not too late to join in, find out more and book here
Next Saturday...
Joanna Hughes of Source Nature is bringing us a new workshop 'Make Like an Artist'
The workshop is in three parts and our Sail Loft session is part 2. Part one is a 1-1 video chat with Joanna to discuss how to access and collect your inspirations before the workshop.
The workshop is aimed at those who'd like to be an artist or maker but don't know where to start; or those who have started but are too self-critical to finish. To find out more and to book, email Joanna direct: joannathughes@gmail.com
Jubilee Weekend...
A great time to visit Manningtree:
Three good reasons to come to our beautiful little town:
It's the smallest town in the UK but it's packed full of great scenery and shops
The Manningtree vintage and collectables fair is on Saturday 4th June
We've got Olivia English's exhibition 'Conspicuous - Land, Sea and Sky' on in our Sail Loft from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th. She'll be selling raffle tickets for £10 for the chance to win her incredible Babka painting. On Saturday at 3:30pm the Mayor of Manningtree, Michelle Taylor will be drawing the raffle. All proceeds are going straight to the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund.
In other news...
Don't forget that it's Fathers' Day in around 4 weeks time - we're open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and our shop's packed full of ideas for nautical buoys as well as total landlubbers!
And finally... don't forget that submissions to our Summer Vibes Exhibition need to be with us by 28th May. If you don't know, we're holding a mixed Summer exhibition in the Sail Loft throughout July and we're welcoming artists to submit pieces to be included. Here's where you'll find more information and an application form.
More next time...
But never miss out on any of the events held in our Sail Loft - take a look at our online calendar to both see what's happening, and to book any of our workshops.
If you're an artist or maker and are interested in hiring the Sail Loft for your exhibition, workshop or pop-up even, take a look at details of our space and how to book
Until next time, I wish you calm waters and plain sailing
Sam
